Relaxation & Self-Care Weekend
Sometimes you need to get away and put the focus on you. Late summer and fall in Door County is a great time for a vacation that's all about you, with perfect weather and dozens of ways to indulge.
Day 1
Your Door County experience starts with where you lay your head. In Door County, where fine resorts and romantic B&Bs are staffed by the owners, you’ll get an uncommon level of service and care.
Westwood Shores in Sturgeon Bay offers a breathtaking view of the water from every suite. This waterfront resort features the finest in one and two-bedroom suites, and each unit has a private balcony where you can enjoy the sunset over the water.
Day 2
Morning
For more than half a century, Door County has been known as a destination for those looking to learn about nature, a new craft, the arts, or music. Whatever your passion, you can find a way to grow it in Door County. Get started with a class or session at one of these renowned institutions:
- Peninsula School of Art
- The Clearing
- Write On, Door County
- Hands On Art Studio
- Washington Island Art & Nature Center
- Bjorklunden
- Birch Creek Music Performance Center
- Sievers School of Fiber Arts
Plus dozens of classes offered by artisans and craftsmen and women throughout Door County each week!
Afternoon
When it's all about you, it doesn't hurt to indulge and shop for a gift for yourself. Find that perfect piece of art for a room, or a piece from a local potter. Scour unique boutiques and clothiers for a new outfit, or jewelry you've had your eye on.
Here, you'll often buy directly from the people who designed, crafted, or painted the work, giving you a gift—and a story.
Evening
Back at Westwood Shores, there's plenty of ways to focus on you. Amenities include heated indoor and outdoor pools, whirlpool, sauna, fitness room, grill and picnic area, plus complimentary paddle and row boats. Everything you'll need to take care of you.
Of course you'll find free Wi-Fi throughout the property, and the resort is close to shopping, restaurants and many Door County attractions, like spas and golf courses.
Day 3
Morning
Start your day by hitting the links. You'll find few Midwestern locales with more variety to offer than the shores of Door County. Nine golf courses dot the peninsula and Washington Island, with a course for every skill level, and views that make even a bad day on the greens worthwhile.
If golf isn't your active option, try a run, hike, or bike ride through one of five extraordinary state parks and experience nature on foot.
Afternoon
Unwind from a long morning on the fairways by relaxing with a drink and food in the open air. Find your favorite beer garden, patio, or rooftop and enjoy the breeze.
Evening
Dive into a foodie's paradise in Door county and indulge with drinks and dinner at one of dozens of acclaimed fine dining restaurants.
Day 4
Morning
Few indulgences do more for the mind and body like a relaxing afternoon at a spa. Door County offers a number of spas that provide services such as massages, facials, mani/pedis, acupuncture, couples treatments, and more.
Afternoon
Before you hit the road for home, pause for one more moment of zen and find your way to the water. If you're comfortable in human-powered watercraft, a solitary paddle (or paddle for two) on a calm Door County harbor will give you one last taste of the Door before you get back to the grind. If a paddle isn't your thing, a moment to yourself on the shore can fit the bill as well.
