Join BHC Historian Barb (Englebert) Chisholm for a guided bus tour through the heart of the largest Belgian settlement in the United States. The one-hour narrated journey explores iconic features of Belgian heritage including roadside chapels, traditional red brick homes, summer kitchens, early cemeteries, and the site of the first Kermiss. Learn about the hardships and resilience of early settlers while riding through this historic region. The tour also includes a guided walk-through the Belgian Heritage Center campus, including the St. Roch Chapel, and the restored schoolhouse/convent. Tickets are $25 per person and space is limited. This event is held in cooperation with the Brussels Lions Club, with proceeds benefiting both the Lions and BHC. Please note: The tour leaves from the Belgian Heritage Center at 8:30 am, tour transportation is via a standard school bus, accessible only by steps.

Belgian Life & Great Fire Presentations Saturday, July 12 | 10:00 – 11:30 AM Continue your visit with a two-part presentation that brings local history into vivid focus. Sandy (Lampereur) Orsted will present Belgian Life on the Door Peninsula, highlighting the development of the Belgian settlements and the unique cultural identity that grew from them. Captain David Siegel of the Green Bay Metro Fire Department will share insights into the catastrophic Great Fire of 1871, comparing it to recent wildfires and explaining why it was so deadly. The event also includes a visit to Tornado Park, the site of former Williamsonville, and a viewing of a powerful video re-enactment of a fire survivor story, performed by Barb Chisholm.
